Venice Palace

The Venetian Palace was built in the 13th century by the Lusignans between 1192-1489 as a Royal Palace, and the Kings of Cyprus resided in this palace until 1369. The Venetian Palace, which was later severely damaged by an earthquake, was renovated by the Venetians in 1552 and reopened as a Royal Palace.

What remains from the Venetian Palace today is the L-shaped Western part of the palace and the three-arched entrance brought from Salamis and containing four columns. The coat of arms of Captain Giovanni Renier, who was the ruler of the Cyprus peninsula in 1552, is located above the central arch, and the Palace ruins are located to the West of Namık Kemal Square.
